For some, it means going for an early morning run. For others, it may just be a morning walk. Increasing your physical activity a little bit, watching your portion sizes, or adding more fruits and veggies to your usual recipes are just a few small changes that can have a big impact.

Another small change toward achieving balance is shifting your shopping habits. Try these tips to help you make wise selections while shopping the Publix aisles:

Swap out white bread

In the Bakery, occasionally swap white bread for Whole Wheat Italian Five-Grain Bread for added whole grains, or choose our line of GreenWise breads that contain 100% whole grain wheat and provide 16 grams or more of whole wheat per slice.

Publix Produce

In the Produce department, add your favorites to your cart to achieve the MyPlate recommendation that fruits and vegetables cover at least half of your plate at each meal.


Uncooked Pasta

In the rice and pasta aisle, swap white rice and pasta for brown rice and whole wheat pasta every once in awhile.

Better Choice shelf tags

In every aisle, look for our Better Choice tags to identify items that have more of the nutrients you need, like fiber, and less of the things you don’t need, like saturated fat, or added sodium, or added sugar.
